Saying NO to Create Capacity
During NOvember, I’m practising saying NO.
NO to habits that no longer serve me, NO to distractions, and NO to getting lost in rabbit holes. As leaders, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by constant demands on our time—meetings, emails, and tasks that can leave us feeling drained and scattered.
In the 10-Day NOvember Challenge, leaders I’m working with are joining me in saying NO to things that drain their energy. They’re clearing space by saying NO to superfluous meetings, unnecessary emails, and tasks that simply aren’t adding value. Last weekend at my Byron Retreat, we spent time saying NO to the things that were holding us back—things that were cluttering our minds, our time, and our focus.
But saying NO isn’t just about letting go of things—it’s about creating the space to focus on what truly matters. As we head into summer and reflect on the year behind us, it's a great time to prune and make room for the right things.
The truth is, saying NO helps create the capacity to lead more effectively. It’s how we clear the mental and physical space we need to focus on what matters most—both in our leadership and in our lives.
So, what could you say NO to in NOvember? What’s been taking up your time, your energy, or your attention that no longer serves you? And, who can be your NO buddy to share your wins and wobbles with over the next few weeks?
Join me in saying NO this NOvember. Create the space to focus on what truly matters and build the capacity to lead with intention.
